Organic Connects incorporates Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion into every aspect of the work that we do. We shape our programs and practices by fostering a supportive culture of community engagement from ranging perspectives that reflect the population we serve both internally and externally.
We strive to achieve Environmental Justice by reinforcing the importance of healthy communities, access to resources and nature, and by reframing the narrative that has contributed to the current social climate. The voices of our communities are deeply valued and have always and will continue to inform how we achieve the goals of this organization.
Address barriers of engaging urban communities with nature, promote healthy environments by increasing social awareness, and prepare the future green leaders of the world for the environmental workforce.
Through community partnerships and hands-on experiences, stakeholders of urban neighborhoods acquire the skills to self-sustain green communities and youth become well-qualified college applicants and internship candidates who address the inequities of environmental organizations and networks.
Studies show that among 300+ environmental organizations in the US, less than 12% of executive-level positions are occupied by people of color and even less take advantage of our national and local parks due to a lack of access and perpetuated social barriers. Organic Connects is working to reframe this narrative.
